Knowledge
Students after completing the course delineate basic ideas of general and inorganic chemistry, use correct chemical terminology. They determine general properties of the elements based on their position in the periodic table; characterize compounds according to the general classification (electrolytes, non-electrolytes, weak and strong electrolytes). They know rules of discerning selected ions an determining amount of an analyzed component on the basis of a performed analytical procedure.
Skills:
Students have the ability to perform on their own qualitative and quantitative determinations, select and use proper laboratory equipment. They know and obey rules of work in a chemical laboratory; they process and interpret results of the experiments.
Socjal skills (attitude)
Students follow the instructions and obey the work rules in a chemical laboratory. They understand risks, associated with the use of chemicals, towards themselves and classmates. They take care of the equipment knowing that they are not its sole users, at the same time cooperating within the team.
Competences:
Student is able to resolve problems concerning basic principles of chemistry, chemical analysis and typical calculations. Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of chemistryCourse content:
Atom structure, periodic properties of elements. The nature of chemical bond, oxidation and reduction processes. Chemical kinetics, catalysis. Equilibrium in solution of electrolytes. Properties of solutions. Chemical calculations. Recommended literature:
