Learning outcomes: Knowledge After completing the course student will know the main sources of atmosphere, water of soils and forests contamination as well as types of contamination produced by food, heavy, agricultural and farming industry. He will know the means of its preservation, rules of environmental monitoring and will find the regulations concerning the environmental protection. Skills After completing the course student will know how to find, elaborate, verify and correctly present materials concerning the sources of air, water, soil and forests contamination as well as produced by food, agricultural and farming industry.

Competences: Student understands the necessity of environmental protection and is aware of its contamination. He will be eager to cooperate with all associated branches.

Prerequisites: chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, major technologies

Course content: Principles of environmental protection. Structure of atmosphere and its phenomena. Atmosphere protection including: dusty and gassy pollutants as well as protective methods used for their neutralization. Water protection. Eutrophication processes and self-purification of waters. Geological structure of soils and methods of its protection. Forests and their protection. Environmental contamination caused by agriculture. Reclamation and management of degraded soils. Dangers of environment associated with communal and industrial wastes composition. Waste management regulations in Poland and EU.
