Learning outcomes: Student will posses the basic theoretical and practical knowledge of equines anatomy, oogenesis and spermatogenesis, semen production and different methods of its evaluation; genetics and environmental factors affecting reproduction.
Competences: After completing the course student will be able to evaluate the reproductive potency of equines using different techniques of analysis; will know methods of semen storage and conservation in order to overcome problems related to equine reproduction; can be employed in laboratories working on semen preservation and evaluation.
Prerequisites: Animal physiology, biochemistry;anatomy
Course content: Biological basis of equines reproduction – anatomy of reproductive tract, oogenesis, spermatogenesis, fertilization; genetics and environmental factors affecting reproduction; method of reproduction, semen collection and mare insemination; techniques of evaluation of semen quality and fertilizing potency of spermatozooa; methods of semen presevation.
