Learning outcomes: Student has a knowledge about methods of estimation and identification of herbal material, standarisation of products, its chemistry, methods of stabilization of bioactive substances in herbal material, methods of drying, preservation and factors influencing the quality of plant material: endo- and egzogenic mutability in bioactive compounds. The program consist background information on cultivation methods of medicinal plants production, harvest, drying of herbal material and its preservation.

Competences: After completing the course the student has the theoretical and practical knowledge about propagation, cultivation of medicinal plants, their harvest and drying technology, and is able to manage of farm with herbs cultivation as well as processing plant with this type of production.

Prerequisites: Plant Physiology, Biochemistry

Course content: History of phytotherapy, estimation and identification of herbal material, standarisation of products and its chemistry, factors influencing on the quality of plant material, background information on cultivation methods of medicinal plants production, harvest, drying of herbal material and its preservation
