Learning outcomes: Knowledge: W1 – student gains general knowledge of the plant morphology and anatomy and their variability (in evolutionary development [BH1_W01]; W2 – he knows plants reproduction cycles and their development [BH1_W01]; W3 – he interpret relations between cell structure and tissues function [BH1_W01]; W4 – he knows characters of the main systematic groups of the Phytobionta kingdom [BH1_W01]; W5 – he knows which plant species are valuable or harmful for animals [BH1_W08]. Skills: U1 – he can recognize the most popular field weeds, meadow and cultivated plants, including harmful or poisoning ones. Thus he gains skilling for general assessment of the value of green forage selection [BH1_U11]; U2 - he is able to prepare microscopic slides and use microscope for biological observation [BH1_U04].
Competences: K1 – student is aware of his responsibility for adequate selection and control of the pastures of meadows’ species composition [BH1_K04].
Prerequisites: Biology on the level of secondary school
Course content: Structure and origin of plants’ organs and their modifications, with the special attention paid on the storage organs. Elements of plant cytology, histology and anatomy. Plant reproduction types. The scheme of plant systematic and their origin. key features of main taxonomical groups, Botanical characteristics of the selected families of the Magnoliophyta division and their representatives important for animal breeding and their representatives.

Assessment methods: Assessment methods: tutorals and lectures are credited separately, on a base of systematically written tests (in total 8), during tutorals also running visual control of the students work and assessment of practical identification of the plant species. Presence during tutorals is obligatory; only one absence is allowed. In a case of the latter student is obligate to pass the part of knowledge realized during the classes he was absent. Assessment note is a mean note.
