Prerequisites: Preceding subjects: Principles of landscape design, Objects design of the landscape architecture, Engineering graphics, General building, Art history. The scope and contents of the course has been agreed with the class conductors: Principles of landscape design, Objects design of the landscape architecture, Engineering graphics, Civil engineering.

Course content:  Fortress architecture in the landscape around the world.  About the need for protection of military architecture, large-scale assumptions, often very expressive in the landscape. The sequence of research - design works in the architectural activities related to regeneration and revitalization.  Historical elements of the defense and defense systems – types of works of the fortress architecture, a glossary of terms.  Outline of the development of European fortifications from the early Middle Ages to the seventeenth century.  Outline of the development of European fortifications from the eighteenth century to the time of World War II.  Eighteenth and nineteenth century defensive architecture in the landscape of Lower Silesia.  The terms of conservation and restoration of monuments.  Fortress green - historical features and contemporary issues in concerning the greenery in the area of fortresses.  Fortress green - removing methods for the invasive green.  Preservation tasks of: moisture eliminating, salting out, mosses and lichens, elimination of dry rot and maintenance of green roofs.  Examples of fortifications historic objects from Europe, which were undergone restoration - the modern features of them.  Small architecture associated with support for tourism within the fortress.  Lasting ruin, its role in the landscape - panorama, landscaping interior.  Territorial protection of monuments.
