PolishLearning outcomes:
Notions of hydrolysis of salts, water hardness, pH-buffers and pH-, Ca2+ -, NaOH-measurements are clear and understood by students; they also know how to calculate the molar and percentage concentration of solution. They know the structure and characteristics of the main group of organic compounds, first of all – of the natural ones. Students are able to separate the chemical organic compounds from the plant.Competences:
Completion of basic chemistry course gives students the possibility to broaden their knowledge in biochemistry, plant physiology, agricultural chemistry, etc. Prerequisites:
Inorganic and organic chemistry – level of secondary school.Course content:
Broensted theory, hydrolysis of salts (in the context of mineral fertilization), pH-buffers, alkalimetry, water hardness measurement and water softening; basic group of organic compounds, motor fuel and octane number, isomerism in the context of biological active compounds (pesticide, medicines etc.), obtaining margarine and soap out of fat, natural compounds: fat, proteins and saccharides. Extraction, distillation, chromatography.Recommended literature:
1. Cz. Wawrzeńczyk „Chemia organiczna” 2.
K. Gawęcka, A. Mironowicz „Chemia nieorganiczna. Ćwiczenia”
3. K. Gawęcka, A. Mironowicz „Chemia organiczna. Ćwiczenia” Assessment methods:
practical course and lectures – written exam (51% of correct answers).Comment:
