Learning outcomes: Students gain practical knowledge of small animal anesthesia. They perform their own preliminary clinical trial, have the ability to appropriate qualifications for anesthesia and they can choose proper anesthetic method depending on the type of surgery. They have a working knowledge of anesthetic agents, handling equipment for anesthesia and intraoperative monitoring. They have the basic skills of resuscitation procedures
Competences: Implementation of a clinical trial for anesthesia. Ability to carry out the pretritment, drug selection and dosage to the patient. Ability to intravenous punctures, intubation, connect the camera to inhalation anesthesia, connection monitoring. Knowledge of preparing for participation in courses of specialization in the field of small animal surgery.
Prerequisites: Completed and passed courses in anatomy, histology and pharmacology. Completed courses in surgery and anesthesia.
Course content: Getting familiar with the specificity of small animal anesthesia with particular emphasis on species differences. Learning to perform the procedures of the local and general anesthesia. Getting familiar with emergency procedures.
