Students gain knowledge in veterinary ultrasound imaging of small animals which is an amplification of compulsory subject - image diagnostics. Competences:
Students will be able to perform an ultrasound examination by themselves in a planned way, to recognize pathological changes, describe them and to give the list of differential diagnosis.
Students will gain the skill to differentiate and interpret basic sonomorphological changes.
Prerequisites:
animal anatomy, topographic anatomy, clinical diagnostics, diagnostic imagingCourse content:
Ultrasound units, physical basics of ultrasound, artefacts, preparing the patient for the examination.
Ultrasound imaging of parenchymal organs of the abdominal cavity (liver, spleen, kidneys, pancreas, prostate), alimentary tract, urinary system, reproductive system, peritoneal cavity and retroperitoneal space. Examination of abdominal wall and testes in males.
Basics of imaging the head, the neck, the thorax (excluding heart) and joints.
