Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Having finished the course a student knows the procedure of construction investment and its economic conditions, understands rules of technical standardizing in construction, knows details of design and cost calculation documentation as well as function and types of cost calculation. Knows bill of quantities procedure of construction works and calculation methods of cost estimation prices, knows tender procedures and other types of placing an order in line with public procurement law.

Competences: After passing the course a student can describe rules of running a construction business and its economic conditions, can classify cost of construction works across different criteria, knows value of elements being part of cost calculation price, can make an individual calculation of chosen cost components of construction works, can prepare a ratio evaluation of structures and works, is able to choose an adequate procedure of placing an order for construction works in line with public procurement law.

Prerequisites: basics of Economics, Mathematics, Law

Course content: Investment process in construction. Cost of construction process and its classification. Technical standardizing in construction. Design and cost calculation documentation. Types of cost calculation and its functions. Bill of quantities methodology in construction works. Calculation formula of cost estimation price in construction works. Calculation of labour rate in cost estimation. Indirect costs and profit calculation. Rules of individual cost calculation. Ratio assessment of structures and works. Assigning value of design works and construction ones on a basis of a specialist software. A public procurement order. Tender and other kinds of placing an order for construction works.
