Learning outcomes: The student gains knowledge of plant physiology including: regulatory mechanisms of life processes, in particular defense mechanisms, water management, transport and distribution of mineral and organic compounds in plants . He has knowledge of the biodiversity of the natural environment, its development and protection against adverse abiotic and biotic factors. The student acquires the ability to carry out simple tasks in research on physiological processes in plants, properly interprets the results and draws conclusions. Can use the basic laboratory techniques used in medicine plants, complies with safety rules in the lab.

Competences: The student understands the need for learning and training on issues related to the protection of plants and the environment. Is able to work independently and in a group, taking on different roles, is aware of shared responsibility for the tasks carried out in a group.

Prerequisites: Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Biochemistry

Course content: Water uptake by plants. Transport and secretion of water. Ecological types of water plants. The functioning of stomata. Mineral nutrition of plants. Photosynthesis. Plants of type C3, C4, CAM. Photorespiration. Environmental factors and internal efficiency of the photosynthetic apparatus conditioning - the role of light, CO2 and temperature. Near and distant transport of assimilates. Growth regulators. Effect of environmental factors on plant growth and development.
