Learning outcomes: Student knows the principle of operation of terrestrial, mobile and airborne laser scanners; knows the procedures for laser scanning, knows basic methods of processing (calibration, registration and georeferencing), filtering and scanning data classification; knows the standard possibilities of software to point clouds processing; knows the basic areas of application of laser scanning; know what products are made from laser scanning data.

Competences: Student is able to perform ground-based laser scanning; is able to process a terrestrial laser scanning data; is able to classify airborne laser scanning data and create digital terrain model. He can choose the right equipment for the measuring task. Student is able to plan airborne laser scanning flight mission. Can identify the benefits of the use of laser scanning as a method of measuring.

Prerequisites: Land surveying

Course content: Introduction to laser techniques, methods of measurement. Airborne laser scanning, components of the system. The characteristics and properties of the scanning. Planning of measurements. Calibration, georeferencing and scans registration. Sources of errors in laser scanning. Filtering and classification of point clouds. Areas of application and products of laser scanning.
