Learning outcomes: Knowledge: -Students identify etiologic agents of zoonotic diseases and estimate their risk for people; - define basic idea and definitions to zoonotic extent (methazoonosis, cyclozoonosis, saprozoonosis etc.) -indicate currently binding legislation in eradication and monitoring of zoonotic diseases -describe clinical symptom sof zoonoses in individual animals species (cattle and small ruminants, horses, swine, dogs and cats, exotic animals and laboratory animals); -describe basic symptoms of zoonotic diseases in people -suggest and schedule diagnostic examination in animals/ animals produce – the sources of zoonoses -suggest basic therapeutic patterns for infected animals Practical skills: -estimate and determine risk for people result from direct and indirect contact with animals -carry out (on one’s own) basic diagnostic examination in parasitic zoonoses -determine risk of consumption of animals products (fishes, meat, milk, eggs)

Competences: Student cooperates with doctor of human medicine and organs of Veterinary Inspection in a field of eradication of zoonotic diseases

Prerequisites: Microbiology, veterinary epidemiology, anatomy, histology, pharmacology .

Course content: The aim of the course is to provide students with currently binding legal acts focussed of zoonotic diseases (control and eradication), basic definitions and classification of zoonotic diseases according to WHO (direct zoonoses, cyclo-zoonoses, meta-zoonoses, sapro-zoonoses); the subject matter take into consideration parasitic zoonoses, zoonoses of the infectious background (viral, bacterial, fungal) and the fieldwork (sequence of parasitological training). Clinical manifestation of the talked over diseases in people introduce doctors (Wrocław Medical University), experts of infectious diseases in people.
