Learning outcomes: Knowledge Knows the basic processes occurring in the environment and the common connections between abiotic and biotic elements. Knows the components, structure and functions of ecosystems and geo-complexes and their spatial arrangement. Understands the meaning of natural and environmental resources as the basis of economic activity and fulfilling social needs. Notices and understands the eco-socio-economic relations in the context of the realisation of sustainable development and in managing environmental resources and space in the process of making administrative decisions. Abilities Knows how to characterise and practically utilise indicators used for describing the state of the environment. Knows how to differentiate between, characterise and practically utilise the environmental premises determining the possibilities for space management. Knows how to analyse spatial development plans and programmes (i.e. strategies, political documents, local spatial development plans) with regard to their usefulness. Can predict the potential reaction of the environment to the planned type of management / type of terrain. Knows how to determine the compatibility of planning designs with the predispositions of the environment. Can single-handedly prepare an ecophysiographic study Social competence (attitudes) Shows an understanding of the idea of sustainable development. Understands the need to discuss and introduce alternative planning solutions with regard to environmental determinants. Acknowledges the need to respect space as a rare good. Knows how to find and study source literature and documents. Knows how to formulate questions, opinions and statements, as well as how to work as part of a group. Knows how to analyse and verify planning documents, programme documents and descriptive documents regarding nature and the environment with understanding, knows how to participate in a group effort in formulating such documents.
