Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 - knows methods of phytosociological research [KB2_W01]; W2 - points the possibilities of practical usage of his knowledge in economics [KB2_W04]; W3 - estimates influence of the management upon the vegetation, explains the most important threats of described phytocoenoses and ecosystems [KB2_W06; KB2_W05_BŚ]; W4 - posseses deep knowledge in a field of phytosociology which enable characterization of phytocoenoses and ecosystems [KB2_W01_BŚ; KB2_W03_BŚ]. Skills: Student: U1 - plans and realizes research tasks in a field under the tutors directions [KB2_U01] U2 - on a basis of collected data can elaborate and interpret results of researches done; is able to draw conclusions [KB2_U04] U3 - identifies syntaxonomical affinities of the species using specialized keys [KB2_U01_BŚ] U4 - is able for estimation of human impact upon the ecosystems function (synantrophization of the vegetation) [KB2_U04_BŚ]

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 - is aware of the necessity of constant learning and systematic updating of the knowledge [KB2_K01] K2 - can work with others and plan field research [KB2_K02] K3 - is a creative man and can define mains tasks regarding co-work [KB2_K05]

Prerequisites: Systematic Botany, Plant Ecology, Soil Science.

Course content: Phytosociological terminology, methods used in phytosociological research, human impact upon the vegetation, development of vegetation on the area of Poland in Quaternary, classification and characterization of plant communities occurring in Poland, with special attention of those occurring in Lower Silesia.

Assessment methods: Practicals assessment: students elaborate themselves phytosociological data according to the procedure (raw table, constant table, ordered table, characteristic species combination, the plant association recognition). They work is estimated for mark. Presence during practicals is obligatory – only one absence is acceptable. Assesment of course: written exam after the practicals credit (describing questions) which takes 90 minutes.
