Learning outcomes: The Student knows the rules and laws governing the various markets. Defines and distinguishes between the parameters and economic instruments necessary for decision making in the enterprise. The Student analyzes the phenomenon and the economic processes on a particular market from the point of view of the economic activities of individual operators. buyers, consumers, retailers and manufacturers. Assess the competitive position of the company. Distinguish between the economic phenomena and economic scale estimates. Indicates the factors affecting economic growth.

Competences: The Student appreciates the importance of independent and permanent widening his/her knowledge of economics. He takes the challenge to take an active and creative work – in his/her own business or in the team (eg. in all the cells and departments of the economic-financial companies).

Prerequisites: Mathematics with some statistics and computer science

Course content: Economics as a science, the basic problems of the Economics. Market and kinds of markets, the mechanism of market economy. Market and competition systems. Company; principle and purpose. Costs. Problems of measuring the results of the national economy. Money, banking system. The fiscal policy and budget. The problem of unemployment. Inflation.

Assessment methods: Knowledge: Course ends with evaluation based on the result of the written test. Skills: Homework-in the form of ppt presentation -prepared for exercises (individually or as a team). Social competence Evaluation of a ppt presentation including the selection of the sources of the material, its presentation, use reasoning and the evaluation of the participants of the discussion on the presentation).
