Learning outcomes: Learning outcomes and competences: Knowledge: - has knowledge of animal welfare, including its ethical aspects and the relations man - animals [BZ_W01]; - has knowledge of the methods for evaluate animal welfare criteria including physiological, behavioral, health and economic [BZ_W03]; - understands the importance of legislation in animal welfare field and knows its role in the development of well animal conditions [BZ_W16]; - knows the practical concepts of animal welfare [BZ_W19]; - indicates the possibility of practical use of this knowledge , especially with respect to the organization of animal welfare, having regard to farm buildings, farm and small and big farms and animal transportation. [BZ_W21]. Skills: - properly carried out observations of the animals, interprets and discusses the results and draw appropriate conclusions using scientific terminology [BZ_U04]; - observes the consequences of wrongly planned animal husbandry and welfare and its anthropogenic matrix, explains the existing practices and prevent animal husbandry [BZ_U05]; - properly evaluate and interpret the level of animal welfare, together with the classification of its origin, indicates the possibility of countering the effects of occurring errors [BZ_U13]; - on the basis of professional literature, formulate arguments on the knowledge of proper animal welfare and animal husbandry; discuss the possibilities of a solution of current problems [BZ_U17]; - has the ability to prepare reports, project work, papers and other written assignments and presentations related to the subject [BZ_U18];

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): – shows interest in updating the knowledge of animal welfare and related disciplines; understands the need for research and prevention activities in this field [BZ_K02]; – is able to schedule tasks and preventive research adapting them to prevailing conditions, based on the test equipment is able to perform certain procedures [BZ_K07]; – is sensitive to nature as a set of cognitive and educational values, is sensitive to the animal protection [BZ_K09]; – is aware of the risks of poor animal welfare resulting from the epidemiological risks, recognizes the need to conduct research, education and monitoring of animal welfare [BZ_K10]; – based on the acquired knowledge is able to operate in own business [BZ_K13].

Prerequisites: physiology, microbiology, chemistry

Course content: Course contents: Concepts and classification of natural and civilization hazards. Environmental catastrophes and natural disasters. Terrorism – the types of attacks and how to recognize them. Bioterrorism and food terrorism. Assessment, analysis and prevention of WMD. The organization and preservation of failures, disasters and mass events. Epidemiological threats. GMO. Legal regulations.

Assessment methods: Assessment methods: Pass classes: periodic written test to assess the current rating (based on oral statements) progress and activity. The presence at the tutorials is compulsory, the student may have only one unauthorized absence. In the case of the rest absences the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material.
