Learning outcomes: Knowledge The student knows basic natural, cultural and economical factors determining landscape protection and has basic knowledge about prospects of landscape protection in Poland. He/she understands main rules of protecting areas that are representing cultural and natural values. He/she knows about existing possibilities of protecting natural and cultural landscape. He/she knows and understands the procedures of designing new protected areas and knows the principles of preparing protection plans. Abilities The student is able to describe a problem concerning management of landscape resources, including landscape protection. He/she knows how to evaluate natural and cultural values of landscapes. He/she is able to correctly choose methods, prepare principles of protecting landscape values and propose actions. He/she is able to assess the effectiveness of common landscape protection methods. Social competences (basics) The student shows the understanding of importance of landscape protection, is conscious of human impact on landscape, understands the importance of landscape for the society, other than it’s economical values.

Competences:

Prerequisites: The basics of law and environmental protection.

Course content: Assessment of landscape values. Protection of cultural and natural landscapes. Forms of nature protection and protection of monuments. Legal guidelines for protecting natural and cultural resources in Poland. European system of landscape protection. Principles of preparing protection plans. Protecting rural landscapes, forest landscapes and river valley landscapes. Environmental protection management system and landscape management system. Financing projects for environmental protection.
