Learning outcomes: During the course, the student acquires knowledge on the economic, scientific, educational, and aesthetic value of nature. Moreover, the student gets acquainted with biological and landscape diversity as main objects of nature conservancy as well as with methods of activities while exploiting natural resources. The student knows how to prepare and apply the strategy of nature conservancy in Poland in relation to the regulations in the European Union.

Competences: The course provides skills sufficient to carry out activities in the area of nature conservancy and work in ecological service and state administration in the area of broadly understood nature conservancy.

Prerequisites: botany, zoology, ecology

Course content: Methods in nature conservancy. Nature conservancy in Poland – threats to fauna and flora. Categories of endangered species according to claassification of IUCN. International classification and functions of protected areas (IUCN). Surface, species, and individual conservancy. Active nature conservancy. Principles of preparing nature conservancy plans. Strategy of nature conservancy in European Union. Networks ECONET and CORINE.
