Learning outcomes: Knowledge: W1-student knows construction and operation of a living cell [KB_W05, KB_W06, KB_W07, KB_W08]; W2- student understands the functioning of organisms at the level of subcellular, cellular, and tissue [KB_W05, KB_W06, KB_W07, KB_W08]; W3- student knows and interprets the phenomena occurring in different types of cells during development, operation and reproduction of organisms [KB_W05, KB_W06, KB_W07, KB_W08, KB_W12]. Skills: U1- student distinguishes plant cells, animal and bacterial [KB_U06]; U2- student is able to indicate differences in the structure of cell membranes, cell organelles, and cytoskeletal elements of plants and animals [KB_U06]; U3- student is able to explain and interpret the functioning of different cell pathways [KB_U06].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): K1 - student understands the effects of biological phenomena in the environment [KB_K06]; K2 - student is aware of the responsibility for the tasks commonly performed in the band [KB_K02]; K3 - student has responsibility for the entrusted equipment [KB_K08]; K4 - student understands the validity of the principles of the Health and Safety [KB_K09].

Prerequisites: zoology, biochemistry

Course content: Cell biology of pro- and eukaryotic organisms, the interdependence between cells in different types of organisms, energy, catalysis and biosynthesis, cell signaling, structure and role of the cytoskeleton and organelles in cells, cell division, cell testing methods, microscopy.

Assessment methods: Assessment exercises: written tests to assess the current rating (based on oral statements) progress and activity. The presence of the exercises is compulsory, the student may have only one unauthorized absence. In the case of excused absences the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material.
