Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 – knows methods of collecting, conservation, and morphology of selected insect taxa [KB2_W01]; W2 – explains the types of insect adaptations for live in various environment [KB2_W04]; characterize the significance of insects in economy and human life [KB2_W05]; W3 – understands interspecies interactions in the world of insects and know selected living strategies of this group [KB2_W02_BŚ]; W4 – describes role of insects in various ecosystems [KB2_W03_BŚ]. Skills: Student: U1 – plans and carries out research tasks in laboratory and field [KB2_U01]; U2 – analyzes environmental conditioning of morphology and living functions [KB2_U07]; U3 – identifies selected groups of insects to genera and species on the base of morphology, using keys to the identification of insects [KB2_U01_BŚ]; U4 – correctly interprets connections between environment of living and the morphology on the morphological and behavioral level [KB2_U03_BŚ].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 – understands necessity of systematic actualization of knowledge from various scientific disciplines in the field of entomology [KB2_K01]; K2 – is able to cooperate with other participants of the course [KB2_K02]. K3 – properly plans to organize and conduct field studies in addition to work conditions and equipment possibilities [KB2_K03].

Prerequisites: General ecology, Nature conservation , Invertebrate zoology

Course content: Biology, distribution and morphological characteristic of selected insects taxa, taking into consideration the protected and endangered species. Basic methods of winged insects conservation, as a dominant group of living animals.

Assessment methods: systematic written checking for assessment . The presence on the tutorials is obligatory. The student can have only one unjustified absence. In the case of justified absence, the passing of the relevant part of the material is required. The final score from the tutorials is made on the basis of the average ratings.
