Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student knows basic definitions used in chemistry, structures of inorganic and organic compounds, physical and chemical properties of aqueous solution. Knows how to apply chemistry knowledge in practice (corrosion of metals, electrochemical cells, petroleum, polymers, environmental pollution). Knows the structure of natural organic compounds present Skills: Student is prepared to work in agriculture and food industry. Is aware of the responsibility to prevent metal corrosion and prevention of environmental pollution

Competences: Understands the importance of respecting safety rules in the laboratory during experiments conducted individually or in the group. Is aware of responsibility for good quality food production and environmental protection.

Prerequisites: Basic Chemistry

Course content: Basic laws of chemistry, structures of chemical compounds, physical and chemical properties of aqueous solution. Issues of practical importance: corrosion of metals, electrochemical cells, petroleum, polymers, environmental pollution.
