Learning outcomes: Students learn the basic devices used during food processing.

Competences: The student knows the basic equipment used during food processing

Prerequisites: mathematics, physics, heat technique

Course content: Basic formulas used in drying: humidity, water content, mass of evaporated water. Figure Ramzina-Moliere for moist air, static and flow dryers. Fluid flow. Laminar flow and turbulent flow, resistance to flow of gases and liquids, the local resistance. Distribution, use, size of typical fans. Distribution and use of pumps, pump characteristic size, characteristics of positive displacement pumps and centrifugal, pump selection in the network flow. Grounds cleaning and sorting. Machines and equipment for cleaning and sorting of granular materials and fragmented, the principle of sharing, selection, performance calculations. The theory of grinding. Grinding device. Blenders, mixers, crusher. Characteristic size, power, efficiency of mixing. The equipment for washing and cleaning. Filtration devices. Types of filters, centrifuge filters, filtration equipment operating characteristics. Dust Extraction. Construction and operating characteristics, the efficiency of extraction. Transport equipment. Types of conveyors, operational features, selection.
