Learning outcomes: Knowledge: 1) student has a general knowledge about nature of economics; 2) knows the basic laws and relationships ruling market economy; 3) has knowledge about the different types of entities in a market economy and relationships between them; 4) has a basic knowledge of money, inflation, unemployment and the cyclical nature of economic processes and the changes consequences associated with them. Skills: 1) is able to analyze and interpret market data on the economic situation, the size of GDP and economic development; 2) is able to characterize the main operators and indicate their importance and the interrelationship; 3) is able to present the causes and effects of changes in market equilibrium; 4) uses knowledge to solve problems of an economic nature in the workplace; 5) is able to correctly interpret the phenomenon of inflation and unemployment and how to reduce.

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): 1) student thinks and acts in an entrepreneurial manner; 2) can complement and improve the acquired knowledge and skills in macroeconomics; 3) is able to join the public debate and social projects taking into account the economic dimension.

Prerequisites: Microeconomics, Basic of Mathematics

Course content: Definition of macroeconomics, types of economy (free market, state-controlled, mixed); sectors of national economy; macroeconomic indicators; domestic product; economic growth and development; money; financial system; monetary system; employment market; unemployment and inflation – definitions, reasons, consequences and ways to fight with them; national budget; periods of economic situation; science’s trends in macroeconomics.
