Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student: W01 – has the basic knowledge in the range of animal hygiene and welfare [BH1 - W01], R1A_W01; W02 – knows the basis of agrotechnology and breeding environment formation [BH1 - W09], R1A_W03; W03 – has general knowledge in the range of technology in animal production [BH1 - W15], R1A_W05, R1A_W03, R1A_W04; W04 – has the knowledge of animal breeding effect on the environment and possible dangers [BH1 - W18], R1A_W06, R1A_W03; W05 – has the basic knowledge concerning physical, chemical and nutritional factors affecting breeding environment and animal welfare [BH1 - W19], R1A_W07. Skills Student: U01 – is able to perform breeding environment state and animal health status assessment [BH1 - U12], R1A_U06; U02 – demonstrates an ability of interference in particular breeding stages and elimination of environmental threats using suitable methods [BH1 - U14], R1A_U07; U03 – has an ability of preparation of typical written works in Polish and foreign language considered as basic one for animal hygiene, concerning detailed issues, using basic theoretical aspects and various sources [BH1 - U15], R1A_U08.

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 – is able to bear responsibility for animal and breeding environment safety and protection [BH1 - K04], R1A_K03; K2 – is aware of significance of social, professional and ethical responisbility for natural environment formation and state, high quality food manufacturing and animal welfare [BH1 - K07], R1A_K05; K3 –is able to perform animal breeding taking care of their proper maintenance, health and safety in aware and responsible way [BH1 - K08], R1A_K05; K4 – is aware of the risk and is able to evaluate the results of activities performed in the range of widely understood agriculture and environment [BH1 - K09], R1A_K06.

Prerequisites: biophysics, chemistry, animal physiology, general animal breeding

Course content: Effect of microclimatic conditions (UV radiation, lightning, air temperature and humidity, air movement, harmful gaseous admixtures, dust, noise) on animal health status and production level. Methods of environmental conditions optimization in livestock buildings (ventilation, heat balance of livestock buildings, animal beddings heat retention and functionality). Permissible systems of farm animals maintenance taking into account the aspects of welfare, biosafety, hygiene and environment protection. Good Breeding Practice Rules in animal production and food safety. The rules of animal transport. Conditions of maintenance of wild animals for breeding purposes, laboratory animals, and animals in zoological gardens.
