Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student knows drought's problems in Poland and their effects in the environment and methods of retention in water intake drainage basin; knows the technical, agricultural-forests and agricultural reclamation methods which are used in aim of to increasing the available water resources; knows the types of small water reservoirs and the possibility of their water's supply. Skills Student can assess the condition of the existing solutions and technical devices, select appropriate methods and ways of increasing protection of available water resources in rural areas; can propose a location of the small retention facilities and application various technical and natural treatments in order to reduce the negative effects of drought in adapting to nature reserves.

Competences: Student is aware of necessity of improving professional qualifications and existing close connections between engineering activities with the environment.

Prerequisites: meteorology and hydrology, law

Course content: Drought's problems in Poland, types of droughts, the impact of droughts on the environment, the effects of droughts in economy, forms and types of retention. Shaping of retention's resources by technical, agricultural-forests and agricultural reclamation methods, controlled retention (reservoir, pond and water-melioration systems), uncontrolled retention, soil-groundwater retention, types of small water reservoirs and sources of their supplying.
