Learning outcomes: W1 – Student has deeper knowledge on biology of animals[BH2 - W01; R2A_W01]; W2 – Student has deeper knowledge on functioning of animal organisms[BH2-W08; R2A_W04]; W3– Student knows modern techiques used in animal breeding [BH2-W10; R2A_W05]; U1 - Student understands and uses information technologies in collecting and processing data on animal breeding [BH2_U03; R2A_U03]; U2– Student has deeper skills in preparing projects using Polish and forein language [BH2-U13; R2A_U08];

Competences: K1- Student understands the need of permanent learning and upgrading skills, is able to collaborate in a group [BH2-K01; R2A_K01];

Prerequisites: biochemistry, genetics, computer science

Course content: The overall purpose of the course is to provide students with theoretical background and practical skills concerning genetic markers, linkage disequilibrium (LD) and its measures, mapping genes of large effects (QTL) using LD, marker assisted selection (MAS), and factors affecting the accuracy of genome-wide association study and genomic selection.
