The course in English will be available if a minimum of 6 students sign up for a group. If less than 6 students sign up for the group, the course will be available in Polish with the possibility of individual support in English.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge: possesses basic theoretical knowledge regarding economic geography, including both basic social issues and agricultural sciences, understands the importance of basic issues related to economic geography, knows the basic change tendencies of contemporary socio-economic (also agricultural) spatial structures in the world, in Europe and in Poland; Abilities: knows how to acquire data and use their basic theoretical knowledge to conduct their own analyses of the concentration of social and agricultural phenomena, the reach of centre influence, analyses of the structures of socio-economic phenomena, and evaluate the relations between socio-economic and environmental issues in resource management along with presenting their own analyses; Social competence (attitudes): knows how to cooperate and work as part of a small team, properly identify and solve dilemmas related to professional activity in the sphere of spatial management and update and improve their knowledge and abilities.

Course content: Introduction to economic geography. Natural resources. Raw materials and energetics. Population and human settlements. Land use and agriculture. Industry and technopolises. Transport and connectivity. Services. Globalisation and international organisations. Cultural and economical human diversity. Sustainable development. Human influence on the environment and the spatial aspects of environmental protection. Selected socio-economic issues in Poland from the perspective of spatial development.
