Learning outcomes: Knowledge of the principles of conducting a rational pharmacotherapy of the most common diseases in horses with infectious and noninfectious etiology, with particular emphasis on the selection of indications, contraindications, dosing rules based on the pharmacodynamics and drug kinetics and drug interactions in combination therapy.

Competences: 1.Self-constructing rational pharmacotherapy of diseases of infectious and noninfectious etiologies occurring in foals and adult horses. 2.Monitoring the adverse reactions of drugs. 3. Planning the multidrug therapies with taking into account pharmacodynamic and kinetic interactions that occur with the use of combination drugs.

Prerequisites: Anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology

Course content: 1.Review of medicinal preparations used in a selected group of diseases in foals and adult horses. 2.Dosing of individual drugs based on their pharmacodynamic-kinetic properties. 3.Specification of potential adverse effects. 4.Overview of drug interactions occurring in the conduct combined pharmacotherapies.
