Learning outcomes: Clinical neurology: Ability of diagnostic and therapeutic approach to the neurological patient. Ability of different neurological syndromes recognition. Performing of the differential diagnostics with the ability of the most proper diagnostic method application, for the neurological disease confirmation and usage of the most appropriate therapeutic method. Introduction to Neuropathology is constructed for the beginning student in Veterinary Neuropathology, to introduce new scientific information on mechanisms of general injury into the language of medicine. The basic concepts of Neuropathology are integrated into clinical medicine. Chapters on cellular brain degeneration, infective cns inflammation, prion diseases, senile changes, vascular changes, oedema cerebri, encephalopathy and neoplasia include the latest in new scientific information of gross and microscopic brain pathology.

Competences: Students after finishing the course are gaining theoretical and practical knowledge of clinical neurology and neuropathology

Prerequisites: anatomy, physiology of the nervous system in domestic animals, physiology, general pathology, pathophysiology

Course content: Clinical neurology: Presentation of the method of neurological status assessment upon the healthy animals and patient witch neurological disease. Self-learning of the neurological examination performance, discussions about the choosing of the most appropriate diagnostic method, application of the additional and specialistic examination methods in veterinary neurology. Self-learning of the x-ray, myelography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging description, interpretation and clinical application. Description, interpretation and clinical application of the electrodiagnostic method in veterinary neurology. Performing, analysis and interpretation of the cerebro-spinal fluid punction. Neuropathological part contains theoretical knowledge of histology, histopathology of CNS, infectious diseases, pion diseases, senile changes of the brain, brain oedema, encephalopathy. Student gain practical knowledge about pathological brain section, examination of the nervous tissue.
