Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 – knows basic definitions of parasitological terminology, which describe parasite assemblages on various levels [KB2_01_BŚ; KB2_W05_BŚ]. W2 – understand the participation of parasites in functioning of ecosystems and the relationship of prarasitology with other related disciplines [KB2_W02]. W3 – describes and explains, in mathematical point of view, phenomenon occurring in host-parasite relationships, understand the meaning of statistical analysis in description and interpretation of natural phenomena [KB2_W02]. W4 – knows computational methods using in ecology can implement to study host-parasite relationship [KB2_W04; KB2_W03_BŚ]. W5 – knows physiological, evolutionary and behavioral aspects of forming of host-parasite relationships [KB2_W02_BŚ]. Skills: Student: U1 – based on literature data can draw up and interpret chosen aspects of functioning host-parasite relationship [KB2_U04; KB2_U05; KB2_U06]. U2 – can create database that allows to analysis of various factors affecting the occurrence of parasites in the environment [KB2_U04; KB2_U05; KB2_U03_BŚ]. U3 – using a specialist terminology explains interactions that occur in host-parasite relationship [KB2_U04].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 – plans research tasks taking into consideration both conditions and possibilities, simultaneously can define priority of the task, displays creativity in solving problems by systematic and resourceful work [KB2_K03]. K2 – is active in improving qualifications by the studying specialist academic literature [KB2_K01].

Prerequisites: zoology of invertebrates, zoology of vertebrates, ecology, parasitology

Course content: Parasite-host system, co evolution of parasites and hosts, survival strategies, co-speciation, selections, peculiarity and transimssion, Red Queen hipothesis, parasitology vs. mutualism, parasitology and gender differences.
