Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 – knows systematic of the most popular species of hunting birds [KB2_W04]; W2 – knows and differentiates the events and processes related to wild birds [KB2_W04]; W3 – indicates the possibilities of applying the practical knowledge related to hunting birds [KB2_W04]; W4 – posses the knowledge on possibilities and organization of maintenance the hunting birds in natural and close breeding conditions [KB2_W04]; W5 – explains organization methods and adaptation the hunting birds to their utilization in a hunting ground and close breeding [KB2_W05]; W6 – knows the roles of adaptation and functioning the introduced and restituted birds in natural environment [KB2_W05]; Skills: Student: U1 – identifines and analyzes the environmental conditions affecting the dynamics of bird’s population in hunting-ground [KB2_U07]]; U2 – indicates the optimal techniques of birds introduction and restitution [KB2_U01];

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 – is willing to cooperate with hunting birds centers regarding knowledge exchange on techniques of breeding the hunting birds [KB2_K08].

Prerequisites: methodolgy of natural sciences, birds biology

Course content: The rules of rearing and maintenance of chosen birds’ species. Characteristics of conformation and nutritional requirements of chosen species of parrots, Estrildid finches, canaries, wild, park birds and pigeons. Basic care and preventive treatments connected with birds’ exhibitions and their maintenance. Pedigree of pigeons, breeding organization in Poland, division of pigeons onto groups, the most important breeds from particular groups, anatomical structure of pigeons, pigeon-house and its equipment, reproduction of pigeons, methods of pigeons breeding, exhibitions of pigeons, diseases of pigeons.

Assessment methods: on seventh and last tutorials written completion of lectures and practices. In each test student has to answer on four questions (related to tutorials and lectures), all answers are scored in grade (in a scale 2-5).Completion of the course: The presence on the exercises is compulsory, the student may have only one unauthorized absence.
