Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 – has a general knowledge on different forms of laboratory animals behaviour [KB2_W05]; W2 – knows basic law and ethics aspects connected with investigation using animals [KB2_W03]; W3 - has a knowledge on investigative methods used in laboratories with laboratory animals [KB2_W01_BT]. Skills: Student: U1 – evaluates observed animals’ reactions and interprets them [KB2_U04, KB2_U01_BT]; U2 – uses scientific literature and other sources of information [KB2_U06].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 – understands the necessity of knowledge update on different biology branches [KB2_K01].

Prerequisites: zoology, genetics, animal physiology

Course content: Characterization of laboratory animals species; their biology. Physiological basis of animals’ behaviour (especially learning). Different forms of laboratory animals behaviour. Animal welfare; law aspects of animals use in laboratories.

Assessment methods: Final grade on the base of written test.
