Learning outcomes: Knowledge: -Student properly defines and describes the micro-and macroscopic lesions. -Explains the cause-and-effect relationships between observed patomorphological changes, and factors causing them. -Describes the intravital symptoms that corresponded to the observed postmortal changes. -Specifies the pathogenesis and cause of death based on autopsy study. Evaluates the need for any additional tests that may complete the diagnosis. Practical skills: -Properly performes the autopsy of animals and samples and saves material for additional studies (microbiological, histopathological, toxicological, etc.). -Protects (fixes and describes) the material for histopathological examination. -Performs cytological preparations. After seeing specimen, can make a initial diagnosis.

Competences: Performs an autopsy and determines the need to perform additional tests (cyto-and histopathology) of tissues and organs to complete the diagnosis

Prerequisites: anatomy, histology, cell biology, biochemistry, physiology and pathophysiology

Course content: The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of regressive changes, circulatory disorders, inflammatory pathology, progressive changes, pathomorphology of cancer and diseases of particular organs and systems of the body as well as domestic animal infectious diseases. Subject shows the autopsy techniques, rules for the collection and protection of material for histopathological, microbiological and serological tests, and also indicates the possibility of the use of knowledge in the diagnosis of diseases, including infectious diseases.

Assessment methods: Obligatory passing course after each term and written exam after the semester 6. Minimum required knowledge for passing: 100%.

Comment: The subject lasts 2 semesters: Pathomorphology I and Pathomorphology II.
