Learning outcomes: Knowlege: The student has a basic knowledge of plant physiology.He knows and understands the processes occurring in plants of: water absorption, photosynthesis, respiration, plant nutrition. The student knows the role of growth regulators (hormones and growth substances) in the processes of plant growth and development.He knows how environmental factors affect the processes occurring in plants O1-W04 Skills: The student is able to perform basic laboratory analyzes. Observes the principles of health and safety in the laboratory. The student is able to develop the results of experiments performed during laboratory tests and discuss them with information obtained from literature, databases, and other sources. O1-U01, O1-U08

Competences: The student is aware of the responsibility for tasks performed jointly by a team. He has responsibility for the entrusted equipment The student is aware of the risks to the processes occurring in plants resulting from the progress of civilization. The student recognizes the need for self-improvement and the need for training. O1-K01, O1-K02

Prerequisites: Biology, biochemistry, biophysics

Course content: Water relations of plants. Mineral nutrition. Respiration. Photosynthesis and photorespiration. Regulators of plant growth. Growth and development. Effect of environmental factors on the processes occurring in plants. Methods of investigation of physiological processes going on in plants.

Recommended literature: Sinha R.K. Modern plant physiology, Alpha Science International Ltd. Pangbourne UK 2004.

Assessment methods: Knowledge: Passing grades of laboratory course and written exam after semester 3 Skills: Assessment of practical skills in laboratory experiments, analysis of results and conclusions (evaluation of reports and oral answers) Personal and social competences: Assessment of individual and teams work (organizational capacity assessment, responsibility for equipment, apparatus, knowledge of safety rules in the lab)
