Learning outcomes: Knowledge Knows how to assign static schemes of various metal structures; understands how they affect different factors on the tensile state of a structure; knows the standards and guidelines for the design and operation of the crane runway girders, skeletal high-rise buildings, chimneys, towers, masts, tanks and structural roofs. Skills Is able to identify technical problems that require the use of non-standard methods for the analysis of built-up structures; is able to collate various loads impacting complex steel structures; is able to perform the classic static analysis and dynamic analysis of the stability of bars, surface and spacial structural steel systems; knows how to design elements and structures exposed to the complex load types.

Competences: Is aware of the danger resulting from improper design and improper maintenance of a building; understands the rationality of the design of steel building structures.

Prerequisites: Mechanical structures, steel structures, the theory of elasticity and plasticity.

Course content: The use of methods of solving bars, surface and spacial structural systems for various steel building construction. Standards and guidelines for the design and serviceability of selected steel structures. Design of complex steel engineering structures: crane trestles, skeletal high-rise buildings, steel chimneys, towers, masts, steel tanks and structural roofs including issues of the dynamic, thermal and fatigue.
