Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 – knows and understands the major research problems of cultural anthropology as well as the main forms of cultural diversity [KB2_W07_BC, KB2_W05_BC], W2 – knows the relationship between cultural and biological phenomena [KB2_W03, KB2_W04, KB2_W05, KB2_W06], W3 – versed in the major ethical and philosophical issues concerning the relationship between cultural and biological phenomena [KB2_W03]. Skills: Student: U1– uses of knowledge and research methods of cultural anthropology in the study of biological phenomena [KB2_U04_BC], U2 – can independently formulate and analyze the arguments concerning the ethical, moral and philosophical problems arising from the connections of biology and biological phenomena of culture [KB2_U06].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 – is creative but also can work in group [KB2_K02, KB2_K05], K2 – is aware of the risks associated with the cultural changes taking place today and with ethical problems of modern biology [KB2_K04, KB2_K06].

Course content: Cultural anthropology and other scientific disciplines. The main theories, concepts, schools. Methods and techniques of research. Categories: culture, design, pattern, standard cultural values. Cultural order and chaos: deviation, innovation and inventiveness. Cultural processes: cultural change, acculturation. Culture and biology. The evolution of culture and history. Globalization as a cultural process. The concepts of globalization of culture: questions and controversies of research results.

Assessment methods: Completion of the course: written test after semester - students have to pass written test, 40-50 open questions (partly of a problematic).
