Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1- has extended knowledge of ruminant animals (domesticated and wild), which allows the interpretation of biological and physiological processes [KB2_W01, KB2_W05]; W2 – based on knowledge of biological processes, can determine their impact on the quantity and quality of products derived from animals [KB2_W04]; W3 - knows the strategies of acquiring food, breeding, offspring caring [KB2_W02_BŚ]. Skills: Student: U1 – performs field practice and laboratory research tasks [KB2_U01, KB2_U02]; U2 – is able to use of available sources of information [KB2_U06]; U3 - determines the membership of the genera and species of ruminants [KB2_U01_BŚ].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 - is aware of responsibility of team members for common goals [KB2_K02]; K2 - understands the need to improve skills and knowledge [KB2_K01].

Prerequisites: zoology, biochemistry, physiology, genetics, laboratory analytics

Course content: ruminants taxonomy, role and economic importance of this group of animals. The specificity of digestion and nutrition of ruminants. Reproduction and physiology of lactation. Features of ruminants. Products derived from ruminant animals.
