Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student: W1 – he/she knows the stages (levels) of plants and animal’s development, the principles of evolution of live organisms [KB_W06; KB_W08]; W2 - he/she has general knowledge about the mechanisms and factors of evolution [KB_W09]; W3 - he/she knows and understands the mechanisms of micro and macro evolution, has knowledge of the molecular-genetic basis of evolution [KB_W05; KB_W09]; W4 - he/she is well versed in modern theories of evolution, has knowledge in laws of evolution and evolutionary terminology [KB_W13]. Skills: Student: U1 - he/she properly practice basic methods of evolutionary research in nature and in experiment [KB_U06]; U2 - he/she describes the phenomenon of evolutional manifestations in nature [KB_U10]; U3 - he/she knows simple computer programs connected with phylogenesis and evolution of organisms [KB _U4] ; U4 - he/she knows the principles and specifics of holding discussions based on the knowledge of evolution [KB _U16].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors): Student: K1 - he/she demonstrates understanding of the evolutionary processes in nature [K_K01]; K2 - he/she is aware of the responsibility for the realization of evolutionary knowledge in society [KB_K01]; K3 - he/she understands the scientific and social value in promoting the idea of evolution [KB_K01].

Prerequisites: Botany, zoology, genetics

Course content: Evolution –general biological phenomenon, the history of the formation of the idea of evolution, Darwin's theory of evolution, the factors and mechanisms of evolution, molecular-genetic principles of evolution, synthetic theory of evolution, adaptation genesis and macroevolution, progression and regression in the evolution, evolution in onto and phylogenesis, law and regularity of evolution, the modern theory of evolution the history of the life formation, the history of the development of biota.
