Learning outcomes: 1. The student knows the ways and rules of obtaining raw material O1 WO3,O1 WO6, 2. knows how to lay down rules for standardization of raw material and its stabilisation O1WO14 3. he drawing up assumptions for cultivation of basic herbal plants, technology, harvesting, drying and storage, depending on the method of obtaining raw material O1WO14 4. interprets the operation and application of the basic groups of herbal raw materials due to its content in active substances O1W19 5. recognizes the impact of endogenous and exogenous factors on the chemical composition of raw material O1WO14 skills 1. student is able to distinguish of raw herb material as plant organ and species O1U03, O1U13 2., can evaluate and select the position under the cultivation of medicinal plants according to the analysis of environmental factors affecting plant growth O1U05 3 recognizes the botanical name of the plants raw materials , the basic principles of cultivation and supply of raw material plants spices, and herbs, possibility of obtaining of raw material O1U13 4. potrafi rozróżniać podstawowe przyprawy na podstawie ich cech użytkowych O1U13

Competences: recognizes the importance of proper cultivation of herbal plants on the quality and safety of herbal raw materials produced for the pharmaceutical purposes O1-K03, O1-K04 effectively act according to the instructions, put to work in a team, carry out a simple test on the basis of guidelines O1-K05

Prerequisites: Botany, Plant Physiology, Biochemistry

Course content: The aim of the course is to introduce students to the knowledge of the importance of medicinal plants and spices in the therapy various diseases, the use of self-medication and the dangers inherent in this form of therapy popular among the growing number of people population in the world. Students will learn about the plants spices and stimulants present in Poland and from other climatic zones, will have the opportunity to analyze the basic sensory stimulants: a variety of coffees and teas. Gain a basic knowledge about the cultivation of medicinal plants and spices, specific raw material preparation for sale, the importance of standardization in the production of herbal medicine, the importance of factors exogenous and endogenous influencing the yield and chemical composition of raw materials
