Learning outcomes: Knowledge: - students have knowledge of descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, correlation and regression as well as analysis of variance [B1_W11], [B1_W13]; - know theoretical and practical aspects of statistical analysis of biological data [B1_W04], [B1_W14], [B1_W15]. Skills: - students can use statistical methods and computer software to analyze data of biological origin [B1_U01], [B1_U07], - can interpret results of statistical analysis [B1_U03], [B1_U10]. Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviours): - students correctly identify problems related to work and make correct decisions [B1_K05].

Competences:

Prerequisites: mathematics, computer science

Course content: The overall purpose of the course is to provide students with theoretical background and practical skills concerning statistical methods used whensummarizing or describing a collection of data (descriptive statistics), data modelling, and then to draw inferences about the process under investigation (inferential statistics).

Assessment methods: Zaliczenie ćwiczeń– odbędą się 3 pisemne sprawdziany po zakończeniu każdego z trzech omawianych działów statystyki (1. statystyka opisowa, 2. wnioskowanie statystyczne, 3. korelacja, regresja i analiza wariancji); ocena zaliczeniowa będzie średnią arytmetyczną ocen uzyskanych przez studenta.
