Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student W1 – is able to point and characterize mandatory law regulations concerning fulfillment of standards in the range of environment protection, public health of human, farm animals, health status of plants as well as identification and registration of animals [BH2_W03, R2A_W02; BH2_W05, R2A_W03]; W2 – lists systems of farm animals maintenance and knows and characterizes modern technologies of animal production according to mandatory law regulations [BH2_W06, R2A_W03]; W3 – has the knowledge concerning the rules of direct subsidies taking into consideration cross compliance requirements [BH2_W15, R2A_W07]; W4 – has a widened knowledge concerning specificity of farm animals breeding [BH2_W18, R2A_W06]. Skills: Student U1 – is able to assess the state of environment and animals health on agricultural farms included in the system of direct subsidies and select suitable methods of their improvement using cross compliance rules [BH2_U10, R2A_U06, BH2_U18, R2A_U06]; U2 – has an ability of an adjustment of technologies used in animals production to cross compliance rules requirements [BH2_U08; BH2_U08, R2A_U06]; U3 – is able to analyze and assess fulfillment of cross compliance requirements on a farm and calculate the points which are attributed to observed unconformity, as well as assess percentage range of direct subsidies decreases [BH2_U11, R2A_U07].

Competences: Student: K1 – is aware responsibility of production of safe food for consumer, animal welfare and natural environment managing and state [BH2_K05, R2A_K05].

Prerequisites: Detailed breeding of farm animals

Course content: Cross compliance rules in agricultural farms and direct subsidies, standards in the range of: environment protection, public health of human, animal health, plants health, animals identification and registration, animals welfare and good agricultural practice, modern technologies and animal production, animals herd and animal products quality management, farm animals transport.

Assessment methods: Practicals completion: Practicals completion based on an average score obtained during oral statements (verification W1, W2, W3, W4, K1); written test containing 20 questions (verification W1, W2, W3, W4, U2, U3); practicals in the cowshed (verification U1, U3) and preparation of the project in the range of farm animals breeding and husbandry with respect to cross compliance rules (within 2 weeks) and its presentation using multimedia software (about. 15 minutes) (verification W1, W2, W3, W4). Presence on the practicals is obligatory. In case of justified absence, the student is obliged to complete the suitable part of material (oral statement on 2 problem questions). Scores range and % of proper answers: 3 – 60%, 3+ – 70%, 4 – 80%, 4+ – 90%, 5 – 100%. Course completion: The basis for course completion is practicals completion and written test (40 questions). The test lasts 45 minutes. When the test is not completed in the first term, the student has the right to pass it again in the same form in additional term. Minimum scope of knowledge required for completion is 60%. Knowledge (W1, W2, W3, W4) will be verified during the exam. The students who obtained minimum 80% of proper answers on the test will receive the certificate: “Fulfillment of standards in the range of environment, animals and consumer protection and direct subsidies obtaining”. Scores range and % of proper answers: 3 – 60%, 3+ – 70%, 4 – 80%, 4+ – 90%, 5 – 100%.
