Learning outcomes: Knowledge: The student’s knowledge of physics covers mechanics, hydromechanics, thermodynamics, fundamentals of electricity and optics, elements of plasma processes, including the knowledge necessary for understanding basic physical phenomena occurring while extracting energy from renewable sources. Has knowledge of the biosphere and the physical and chemical processes occurring in nature while obtaining energy from renewable sources. Has general knowledge of the existing heliothermal and photovoltaic systems used in the production of heat and electricity. Skills: Has the capability of obtaining information from the literature and databases and the use of various calculation methods. Can make measurements and process physical quantities. Can interpret and draw conclusions. Shall identify a physical phenomenon in a simple task of engineering and can put in appropriate calculations when developing documentation, and their description and discussion of the results of the task. Can perform, under supervision, a simple task of a research concerning an area of renewable energy sources

Competences: Understands the need for continuous learning and knows its opportunities. Is aware of responsibility for own work and has willingness to comply with the principles of team work and responsibility for cooperative tasks

Prerequisites: Mathematics

Course content: Elements of classical mechanics, hydromechanics, kinetic-molecular theory, thermal processes, electrical and electromagnetic phenomena, power cells, solar panels, wind turbines; hydroelectric, nuclear and conventional power plants.

Assessment methods: Knowledge: Exam on exercises. Written examination. Skills: Assessment of individual tasks and oral presentation, analysis and interpretation of the results obtained and their presentation. Social competence: assessment of the correctness of selection of information and respect for copyright. Evaluation of the effects of working in a team environment.
