Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Students acquire basic knowledge in formulating scientific problems and hypotheses. They learns the methods used in ecological studies - both the field and the laboratory. They knows the basic concepts describing the vegetation and her changes. They learns the methods used in population studies, experimental, phytosociological and the scope of research landscape ecology. Students learns the methods used during the collection biological samples and laboratory analysis. They knows the basic methods used in data analysis. Skills: Students can use the known methods in future professional work.

Competences: Competences: Students understands the need for ecological studies, appreciates the need for further training.

Prerequisites: Botany, ecology

Course content: During the lectures students learns the methods used in the short-term and long-term population studies, phytosociological, ecosystem and landscape ecology studies. They have knowledge of the methods used in laboratories. They able to use numerical methods in the analysis of ecological data. During field exercises students learns use the known methods in practice.
