Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student can choose rainwater management methods that improve water resources in the environment. Student knows the effects of human impact in the environment resulting from irrational management of rainwater in urban areas. Skills: Student can take action to restore the water resources in the environment. Student knows what kind of sustainable drainage systems should be used, taking into account the applicable law.

Competences: Social competence: Student has aware of the sensitivity of the environment on human pressure and understands the need to identify priorities and to take into account the rule of law in the decision.

Prerequisites: hydrology, environmental law, technologies of water and wastewater management

Course content: Urbanization and its impact on water management in the city. The main problems and threats. Law related to the rainwater management. Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of rainwater. Traditional methods of rainwater management. Surface and underground drainage systems as sustainable solutions to increase retention in the city. Management of rainwater runoff through bioretencji systems. Rainwater treatment equipment. Maintenance requirements for sustainable systems. Stormwater fee. Incentives to improve rainwater management. Prospects for the development of alternative systems in national conditions.

Assessment methods: Assessment methods: Assessment of learning outcomes in terms of knowledge: Pass the content of lectures and assessment of developed projects and concepts. Assessment of learning outcomes in terms of skills: in the form of the conception and two follow-up projects and their implementation. Assessment of learning outcomes in terms of social competence: individual and group work, discussion in class, attitude on the exam.
