Semester: 2014/2015 winter
Name: Structural Mechanics II
Major: Civil Engineering
Study Type: first cycle
Course type: compulsory
Study Semester: 5
ECTS points: 5
Hours (Lectures / Tutorials / Other): 9 / 18 / 0
Lecturer: dr inż. Adam Balawejder
Language of instruction: Polish

Learning outcomes: This course extends knowledge of modelling and computation of two dimensional structures. Students learn how to assign primary structure and how to model its elements, supports and loads. Computational methods and techniques to are introduced.

Competences: Completion the course gives the fundamentals of analyzing two dimensional structures which enables to design them using wood, metal or concrete materials.

Prerequisites: structural mechanics I

Course content: Introduction to statically indeterminate structures. Force method and displacement method (linear theory) for statically indeterminate structures (beams, frames and trusses). Displacement method for linearized stability analysis. The students should develop the ability to both model and analyze structures to determine the internal forces and structural deformations.
