Learning outcomes: Student has a knowledge and utility to implement digital image processing methods for image correction, improving image perception and classification. Student can use digital image techniques implemented in commercial software uses in photogrammetric, remote sensing, geodesy and cartography.

Competences: Completion of the course gives the utility of using basic digital image processing methods and techniques.

Prerequisites: Computer sciences

Course content: Methods of obtaining digital images. Digital image characteristics – quantization, resolution, spectral characteristics. Storing digital images: file formats, compression methods. Radiometric corrections. Changing resolution, resampling, image pyramids. Digital filtering using convolution matrix. Improving image quality. Feature recognition. Texture analysis. Image correlation. Histogram. PCA method. Classification of images.

Assessment methods: Writing test. Oral exam. Required passing practical course.
