Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student: W1 - knows history and evolution of the Earth and rind [BC1_W10]; W2 - understands that geological features were created in specific time and circumstances [BC1_W10]; W3 - recognizes the most important minerals [BC1_W10]; W4 - recognizes the most important rocks [BC1_W10]. Skills Student: U1 - recognizes and classify minerals on their macroscopic properties [BC1_U09]; U2 - recognizes and classify rocks on their physical and chemical properties [BC1_U09]; U3 - learns individually in directed manner [BC1_U14].

Competences: Personal and social competences (attitudes and behaviors) Student: K1 - is aware of the importance of biodiversity and in active way propagates protection of biodiversity and environment quality [BC1_K04]; K2 -is sensual on the environment treated as a number of educating, esthetic and touristic values [BC1_K04]; K3 -is responsible for delivered tools as well as mineral and rock collections [BC1_K08].

Course content: Formation and classification of minerals; formation of main igneous rocks, forms of intrusive rocks, plutonic and volcanic processes and rocks, volcanic phenomena, systematic of igneous rocks, weathering and minerals and rocks, clay minerals and their role in natural cycles of elements, formation of sedimentary rocks, clastic rocks, biochemical and chemical rocks, metamorphic processes and metamorphic rocks, history of the Earth, eras and geologic periods.

Assessment methods: Written control works on each class, final oral control of knowledge including recognition of the most important minerals and rocks.
