Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student has a knowledge about environmental requirements of particular grassland communities, as well he knows rules of fodder production and sustainable grazing. Students had a knowledge concerning methods of shaping species composition of grassland communities using rational management. He knows the rules of management improving biodiversity on high environmental value meadows. Skills: Student can analyse the factors influencing the value of grasslands. He is able to plan the scheme of renovation treatments suitable for particular types of meadows. Student is able to get information from literature and other sources concerning problems of protection and reconstruction meadow communities.
Competences: Student is aware of importance and responsibility for condition of grasslands. He can work individually and in groups, adopting on various roles.
Prerequisites: Botanic, Plant adaptation to the environment.
Course content: Description of plant communities and bases of their classification. Protection of grassland communities in Nature 2000 network. Ecological division and characteristic of herb and grass communities. Natural grasslands and directions of succession of seminatural meadows. Rules of renovation and reconstruction of meadow communities.
