Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student knows the methods of scientific research and types of experiments; is aware of adverse experimental factors and knows how to plan a scientific experiment; knows the basic statistical procedures of research results analysis. Skills: Student can formulate hypotheses as well as plan and carry out experiments, selecting the appropriate measurement methods and statistical procedures; can presents the research results graphically and interpret the results of statistical calculations; can formulate conclusions from experimental studies.

Competences: Social skills (Attitudes): Student is aware of the impact of adverse factors on experimental results; follows the rules of experimental research conduct and takes care of proper experiment procedures to guarantee reliable results; is aware of the importance of proper statistical methods for reliable inference.

Prerequisites: mathematics, statistics

Course content: Basic concepts of experimentation. Methods of scientific research. Experimental design. Experimental study planning and statistical analysis of results. Experimental techniques. Inference based on experimental results and statistical calculations.
